Robert & Robin

Robin's family

We are Robert and Robin. We have been blessed with a biological son Nick (13) and three beautiful daughters, Mikayla (15) , Lauren (5) , & Mia Hope (4). Our girls were adopted from China. We are currently on a journey of love to bring home Liliana (4), our “Baby Love,” and her special need is arthrogryposis. “We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 When Mikayla and Lauren were adopted, there was no need to fundraise. It made the journey less stressful. However, there are blessings that come when you walk by faith and not by sight. To walk into the darkness with complete faith in Him…and to stand in awe as He lights each step. It is very rewarding. We must constantly remind ourselves to stay focused on where God is shining His light today…not tomorrow or next week…but today. He has moved mountains to get us to where we are.“Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” Psalm 119:105 Adopting from China can cost anywhere from $25,000 – $30,000+. This will be our 3rd adoption in 4 years. That coupled with a period of unemployment has left us fundraising to bring home Liliana. There are those who question why and how we would proceed to grow our family on an empty bank account. And, though it looks complicated…our answer is simple–because we feel it is God’s will for us. “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on our own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Liliana

Red Thread Stitches of Hope was stitched together in 2007 as a way to bring home our daughter Mia Hope. She waited in China with the diagnosis of cerebral palsy and mental retardation. We felt in our hearts that there was hope waiting for her. After coming home in March of 2009, our little Miss Perseverance has proven what hope can do for a child. We are now called Red Thread Stitches of Love because our Baby Love waits in China with eyes that long to be loved. We long for the day when she will show us what love can do. While dad and the kids pull together in their labor of love, moms sews late into the night with stitches of love for Liliana. We know that God has a plan to bring home our Baby Love. It is up to us to peel back the layers and expose His provisions through stitches of faith in Him. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. Please visit Red Thread Stitches as well as A Joyful Heart blog who is hosting silent auctions to benefit our family this month.

Curtis & Amy

Curtis, Amy, & kiddos

Curtis and I have always wanted to adopt or be involved with orphans. Our first “dates” in Ethiopia (that is where we met!) included us fantasizing about orphanages . . . really romantic stuff! Fast forward 6 years, and we are married with two precious biological children. Due to a medical issue with my son, we have learned that more biological children is no longer a wise choice, and our family is far from complete! God used this to not so gently nudge us that NOW as opposed to later is the time to adopt. We are still early in our journey and learning and being stretched in every way possible! It may seem crazy
to some, but to us, it is the way we are bringing home our newest addition, direct from Ethiopia.

We blog here, and we also have links to all of our fundraisers there. We have an Etsy shop full of perfect Christmas Gifts, A Christmas Card Fundraiser, Shaklee Products, and Made-by-me Shirts. We would be honored if you would join us in our journey!

The Metiers

The Metiers

We are the Metier family, Shawn, Mandie, Madison, Everett and soon to join our family, Sophia. We are excited to share with you our journey through adoption. We began building our family through adoption in October 2004 and were blessed when Madison was placed in our arms in October 2006 at 9 months old. We knew when we arrived home with Madison that a second child would be joining our family from China in the future. We began the adoption process again in October 2007 but this time we felt that God was calling us to adopt from the Waiting Child Program. We thought we would be matched with another little girl until we saw Everett’s face for the first time on August 2008; we knew at that moment that God had planned for us a son.

While waiting to travel to China for Everett, we began sponsoring a child in the childrens village that he had been living in. As time grew on, we felt the Lord calling us to adopt again, and we thought He was calling us to adopt her. After a great deal of discussion about the financial part of adoption as we are still paying for Everett’s adoption and a great deal of prayer, we began the journey to find her file. While we were compiling our dossier, her file was released, and she was matched with another family. Our hearts were broken, but we knew that God had planned for another child to join our family.

Sophia

On June 21st, we received a call at 9:45 pm from our China Coordinator; she had a file for us to review of a 15 month old little girl from Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Her special need is a large hemangioma on her left leg and bottom. There are many unknowns with the hemangioma, but we have been blessed with a wonderful doctor that will guide us in giving her the best care and treatment possible. Mandie will be traveling at the end of November to pick up Sophia while Shawn cares for Madison and Everett at home. We have been fundraising for the majority of this adoption and have a few final fundraisers going on. Please visit our blog and take a look at what we have; you might find something for your Christmas shopping list. And, we would love for you to follow our trip to bring Sophia home!

Lisa & Family

Lisa & Family

I feel so incredibly blessed to be the parent of three beautiful miracles. Olivia, Braeden, and Liam are my heroes. God has been with us down many a road in the past 6 years as each of them have come into my life as a foster child and now remain, adopted into their forever family.

Growing up, I always felt called to care for children: in our church nursery, as a nanny, in Young Life and TEC and other youth organizations. As I became a Special Education Teacher, my eyes were opened even more to the lives that some children live. I realized what a calling foster parenting was and knew in my heart that God was asking me to step out into faith. Through the years, He has graced me with a heart for orphans from all over the world.

Recently, I felt the call to step out yet again into the world of international adoption. God has led our family to the Hong Kong program. We are excited to know that we will most likely be adopting a child under 3 with special needs. Though we may not yet know who this child is, God knows, and we pray for the child daily. This journey has opened my eyes to rest only in Him, to lean on Him for patience, and to wait on His timing. It is exceedingly different than the road we have already walked, and we thank Him along each step.

I have created handmade necklaces to help support our adoption financially. Each necklace is $15 which includes shipping. I am also in the process of making and posting t-shirts for sale. These will also be $15, and I hope to have them up this week in many sizes, colors, and choice of design. You can also donate through paypal. We are scrimping and saving and doing what we can to make this call of God a reality. Thank you for your prayer and support!
